COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS FOR SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT ATTITUDE AND SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING IN PUPILS COMING FROM DIFFERENT ETHNIC ORIGIN
Ivan Dimitrov
Abstract:
Four ethnic groups – Bulgarians, Greeks, Turkeys and Gypsies, took part in an empirical research. It has to make clear: a) what is the attitude of adolescents belonging to different ethnocultural groups towards school as socialising factor and b) what interdependencies exist between pupils attitude to school and their subjective well-being there. The subjects were 1 325 pupils from 7th to 11th grade in different kinds of schools in Bulgaria and Greece. The pupils fulfilled four psychological questionnaires. The research has taken place between 1995 and 1998 featuring adolescents from 14 to 18 years old.

VALUE CONSTRUCTION IN J. PIAJET’S CONCEPTION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CONTEMPORARY COGNITIVE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL MODELS
Maria Trifonova
Abstract:
Тhe number in the theory of Piaget is defined as a synthesis of two main operations - the class inclusion and serration. The number’s construction is closely related to the processes of conservation of quantity and to the processes of reciprocal correspondence. The conservation of uncountable quantity is defined as a complex phenomenon with diversity of processes involved in. Two aspects could be identified: 1. The categorical aspect related to the underlying category “volume”; 2. The aspect of transformations of the main volume parameters. Logical and infra-logical forms are assumed to be involved simultaneously in the conservation of countable quantity. Space parameters are analyzed as part of the prototype. As a form of analogical mode of information processing they co-exist with logical form of representation, aimed at the same objectives.

FROM SOCIAL CHANGE TOWARDS ERASING THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN NORM AND PATHOLOGY
Albena Krumova
Abstract:

SELF-CONCEPT IN THE CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOLOGICAL LITERATURE
Eva Papazova
Abstract:
The scientific interest in the Self-concept begins as early as the fall of the 19th century. Notwithstanding the century long interest, numerous questions related to the Self-concept are still unsolved. The paper is an attempt for a clear theoretical approach to Self-concept as a personality construct. The text has a two parts composition. The first part is suggesting an exact definition of Self-concept. In the second part the structure of construct is discussed, and the theoretical models of Self-concept measurement are reviewed. Among the various approaches the Self-concept has been investigated, the existence of multidimensional hierarchically structured Self appears to be possible. The Self is built on preserved information in someone’s memory, and is associated with evaluations, expectations and behavioral tendencies, which could be methodologically tested, measured and studied.

SEX PREJUDICES DYNAMICS: SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION
Petya Genkova, Stanka Cherneva
Abstract:
Prejudices, including a sexist prejudice, are especially interesting as a social and psychological phenomenon, because of their complex nature. The goal of the investigation is to discuss theoretical frameworks on one hand and the empirical verification of prejudice relations between men and women – on the other hand in the contemporary Bulgarian society.

SELF-IMAGE CONTENT IN INDIVIDUALISTS AND COLLECTIVISTS
Margarita Dilova
Abstract:
The study investigated the content of the spontaneous self-concept in relationship to individualism/collectivism as measured by the BIC-scale. The self-concept of collectivists, compared to individualists, contained more elements that represented their social identity, as well as more elements of the general trait “dependability”. Male individualists, compared to male collectivists, included more personal attitudes, preferences and motives in their spontaneous self-concept. Contrary to the hypothesis, female individualists described themselves by more elements of the general trait “agreeableness” than female collectivists.
